If, while you’re searching online for your subject, you find a mugshot of your skip, that can be very helpful.

I don’t encourage you to specifically look for a mugshot, because that can be a rabbit hole down your favorite search engine that leads you nowhere and gets you distracted. However, if in the normal course of searching, you come up with a mugshot, that’s more valuable than just having an image or photo of that person.

Look carefully at the mugshot and the associated information and you will find a date, time, and location of an arrest. This will quickly lead you to criminal records information. That’s the true value of finding a mugshot online.

Finding a mugshot through an online search engine is not the same as finding the person, but it can lead you in the right direction and – sometimes – right to their front door!

Finding a mug shot means there is a lot more information out their you can get to help you locate your ship.

Here are the 4 things you need to know…

1. Don’t wast time looking for a mugshot just for skip tracing.

If you come across a mugshot while skip tracing, use it to your advantage, but don’t wast a ton of time specifically looking for a mugshot. There are a lot of better options for location your skip.

2. Don’t Pay!

Do not pay those mugshot website on thin dime! They are not going to give you anything you can’t get for free on your own or for way less money form a legitimate database.

3. Get location and date.

The true value of a mug shot for skip tracing is usually not the photo itself. (That doesn’t add a lot more to what you already know.)

The real value is learning where and when the mugshot was taken!

4. Search the courthouse records.

Once you know the location and date of a mugshot photo, then you also know the person was arrested there and then and that means there is a court record FULL of other information!

In court records you will / may find:

– A narrative of the arrested

– Who made bail for the person

– what car they were in

– license plate number of the car

– others around including witnesses, victims and accomplices

– and much, MUCH more!
